- Targeted device safety information
- Field safety notices (FSNs)
National Patient Safety Alerts (NatPSA)
- MHRA is accredited to provide national patient safety alerts for medical devices and medications.
- These alerts are forwarded to the NHS in England.
- The MHRA writes NatPSA
- NatPSA are targeted at senior management in healthcare organisations for system-wide action
- NatPSA are forwarded to the healthcare sector through the Central Alerting System
- NatPSA is published on GOV.UK for action and information
- MHRA writes Device safety type of communication
- This type of communication has a target audience normally made up of healthcare professionals but may sometimes be directly relevant to patients
Targeted device safety information
- MHRA writes Targeted device safety type of communication
- This type of communication has a target audience of specific organisations that we know have a particular device
Field safety notices are written by manufacturers of medical devices, not by the MHRA
FSNs target audience is the manufacturer’s customers
FSNs are published on GOV.UK for information only
